You may be thinking what is a favicon? A favicon is the little image that appears next to the tab of the webpage as you can see below
Implementing this is a very easy process it makes your website look a bit more professional and also is a good little feature for search engine optimization work.
So firstly you will need to find a image you are after, it should be relevant to what your website is usually i go for a little snippet of the logo so taking the first letter is probably the best option. You need to keep the image a square size so if its not make the canvas size a little bit bigger and just space the logo out otherwise you will have a distorted logo.
Next we will need to use a generator to make the actual icon which the browser will read. I use Dynamic drive however there are plenty of other ones out there, please click here.
As you can see its quite straight forward so click browse and find the image you wanted and saved earlier on, then click create icon. Once you have created your icon you will just need to save it to the relevant area which is going to be useful to you at a later point but for now we don’t need to worry.
Now you need to put this link ” ” within the head section of every page you have online. When you upload the favicon which was just downloaded from Dynamic drive you will need to put it in the images folder on the FTP server.
You will now need to re upload the html files of which you placed this link in on the head section and now everything is done.
If you refresh the browser and give it a couple of minutes you should see your icon appear.
